Trucks, especially those used in 24/7 linehaul work are huge users of fuel.

In Australia, America, France and the UK in particular, trucks can travel as much as 400,000 kms (240,000 miles) per year, consuming as much as 160,000 litres (40.000 USG) fuel annually.

What is not generally known is that

  • engines which run under heavy load (90% and more) are quite fuel efficient. Engines which run under lighter loads are not as fuel effficient. Engines in trucks used for linehaul work generally operate at around 50% load, as confirmed by data download from the engine’s onboard computer. The emissions of HCs (unurned fuel and CO (partly burned fuel), which can be measured using normal diagnostic exhaust gas analizers, are markedly higher confirming that the engines are not achieving a complete fuel burn.
  • with the accumulation of soot, gums and varnishes, brought about by this incomplete fuel burn, the fuel efficiency of an engine can and will invariably deteriorate from that achieved in an as new condition by as much as 20-25%. So… an engine achieving 35 litres/100 kms when new, will likely deteriorate to 42-45 litres/100kms after 8-9 months’ operation.

Fuelstar, in giving a more complete combustion, will maintain an engine’s fuel efficiency to that experienced in an as new condition. Where the engine has been in use for a year or more and the fuel effficiency has deteriorated, the Fuelstar will restore the fuel efficiency to that experienced in as new condition.

There are other benefits as well.

  • engine rebuilds can be prolonged
  • engine oil is cleaner
  • engine wear is less
  • maintenance is reduced, especially the need to remove soot from turbo blades

The saving in fuel cost is huge. Even a fuel saving of 5% (invariably 8-12% is achieved in actual practice) can result in a cost saving of AUD6,500 (USD4,400) per truck annually.

With an effective life of 5 years or more the cost of the Fuelstar will be recovered many times over from fuel and maintenance savings.

And, of course, in taking the initiative to give a more complete fuel burn, the operator of the engine is making a significant contribution to the environment in reducing unwanted toxic emissions.
